The days between the Ascension and Pentecost were spent by Mary and the Apostles in prayer and expectation: this is the origin of nine days of prayer (a Novena) in expectation of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit which would mark the birth of the Church.

HENRY CRAWFORD HILL who died on Thursday, 28th March. His Requiem Mass will take place on Wednesday, 15th May at 11.30 am followed by committal at Southend Cemetery.
CATHY SANDERS RIP who died on Monday, 6th May. Her body will be received into the church on Tuesday, 4th June at 4pm and her Requiem mass will take place on Wednesday, 5th June at 10am.
RAYMOND CHARLES SIMKINS who died on 30th April. His body will be received into the church on Wednesday, 5th June at 5pm and his Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday, 6th June at 2pm, followed by committal at Southend Crematorium.

What could be nicer! Summertime is on its way and your parish SVP (Society of St Vincent de Paul) Conference is delighted to announce the date of its forthcoming annual 'Strawberry Tea' to which all senior citizens of the parish are most warmly invited!

Thank you to all those who supported our Fairtrade Stall last Sunday. Through buying the products you supported our brothers and sisters in developing countries helping them to provide for themselves and their families. We raised £190.50 which will be spent buying more products from them.
On behalf of Missio I wish to thank all the Parishioners who donated to Missio during the year 2023 either by the Red Box or direct giving. The Festival day is always a very inspiring occasion with people from all faiths or none dropping into our beautiful Church. We have been overwhelmed by the positive response that there has been over the last few years to our themes.
