Parish Christmas Bazaar Sunday 1st December 8.30am to 1.30pm

Our Annual Parish Bazaar is upon us once again and we need your help and generosity.  If you have any unwanted gifts, toiletries, bottles, raffle prizes or bric a brac that you would like to donate, please leave them in the old Baptistry.  The Grand Prize Draw tickets will be at the back of the Church from this Sunday, please return them to the Parish Office once you've filled them in.  If you would like to help on the day, please contact us.  Sue Lawford - 07816 141492, Angela Clements - 07940183452 email angelaclements47@gmail.com Thank you.

Open Day for prospective pupils for entry in 2020

The headteacher will be holding tours for prospective parents on the 7th November at 10am and 2pm for those parents who are interested in applying for a place for their child for September 2020. Please note that because of the number of people that usually attend these events we cannot accommodate children on this tour. There will be opportunities in the coming year for children to get to know the school. Catechists Training and Resources Day, 10am to 3.30pm Saturday 9th November, Sacred Heart of Mary School, Upminster.

We are hosting the fourth annual Training and Resources Day for Confirmation and First Holy Communion Catechists, Children’s Liturgy providers and Youth Leaders from across the Diocese. The morning will include 3 keynote speeches - Brenden Thompson, former Walsingham House Team Member, Masters Graduate from Blackfriars, Oxford, and current CEO of Catholic Voices, will introduce the Apostolic Exhortation “Christus Vivit” (“Christ is Alive”), Fr Dominic will look at how we are applying Christus Vivit within our Diocese and Fr Stephen Wang will introduce a new initiative called Sycamore. In the afternoon Catechists will be able to choose 2 workshops from a selection of providers including Sycamore, The Bible Society, Godly Play and the Children’s Liturgy, Million Minutes,  SVP and Catholic Voices. There will also be an afternoon session specifically for young catechists, aged 16-19, who wish to develop their faith further post-Confirmation.

The 200 Club continues to provide funds to support the running of the Parish Centre. At the moment we are 25 members short of our target. If you would like to join, forms are available from the back of the church or ring Linda Wall on 01702 558217.

The Scriptures in Advent - Fr Nicholas King SJ

The second event of the Year of the God who Speaks, which runs from 2019-2020 and is promoted by the Bishops of England and Wales, will be a study day on ‘The Scriptures in Advent’, to be given by the renowned biblical scholar, Fr Nicholas King SJ, at the Catholic Church of Christ the Eternal High Priest, Brentwood Road, Gidea Park (RM2 6DH) from 10.30 until 3 pm on Saturday 23rd November. Admission is free, but please reserve your place by email to GPstudydays@gmail.com or by phone to 01708 449914.  Copies of the newly-published ‘Revised New Jerusalem Bible’ will be on sale at the discounted price of £30 (RRP £39.99). Refreshments will be available but please bring your own packed lunch. There is ample free parking at the church, which is three minutes walk from Gidea Park station. Easy connections by bus and by TfL to Stratford, Liverpool Street, and Brentwood.

St Thomas More High School Open Days

Thursday 17th/Friday 18th October 2019 by appointment.
