Kevin Hale

Parish Priest

Monsignor Kevin Canon Hale, Parish Priest since October 2003

A native of the Diocese of Brentwood, Fr Kevin grew up in Wanstead, in the East End of London, where he attended Catholic schools. He studied philosophy and theology at Allen Hall Seminary and was ordained by Bishop Thomas McMahon in 1984. He later continued theological studies at Maryvale Institute receiving the Master of Arts degree in 1995.

Fr Kevin served as Assistant Priest in Ilford, Rayleigh and Colchester then as Parish Priest of Romford for nine years until his appointment to Leigh in 2003. Throughout those years he held various Diocesan posts including Dean of Southend, Chairman of the Council of Priests, Administrator of the Sick and Retired Clergy Fund. The new bishop, Alan Williams SM, appointed him Vicar General in 2014 and a member of the Brentwood Chapter of Canons in 2016. In August 2023 he was appointed a Chaplain of His Holiness by Pope Francis.
