We require a Teaching Assistant, starting 24th February 2014, 36 hours per week, term time only. Unqualified Scale 2 point 11- £16,647 (pro rata). Qualified Scale 3 point 14 - £17,658 (pro rata). We need a committed, hardworking, enthusiastic and caring person to work in our friendly Outstanding Catholic Primary School. The post is for supporting class teachers and children from Nursery to Year 6 including those with special needs and English as an additional language. This post will involve some 1 to 1 work with SEN pupils. The appointed person will also be expected to run before and after school clubs. As part of the interview process short listed candidates will be asked to sit a literacy and numeracy test. Reference requests will be sent for if you are short listed. Interviews will take place week beginning Monday 10th February 2014.

Children’s Liturgy
Each week, Children’s Liturgy presents scripture stories to our children aged 4 to 9 in a relevant way. The children are taken out from the 9.30am mass in 3 age groups : 4-5. 6-7. 8-9. Currently we are limited to taking only one age group out each week as we only have use of the Sacristy but next month our new Parish Centre will be ready! We could take all the children every week! (as we used to) but to do this we need MORE VOLUNTEERS.
The commitment is not huge – a session of 20 minutes, twice per term. You would present an aspect of that day’s Gospel any way you like – with or without use of crafts, colouring, puzzles, music, dressing up – it’s up to you!. There are sheets for each week to give an outline and some ideas. You can volunteer with a friend, or with one of the existing team to help you. If you are a parent it can be a good way to help your child enjoy coming to church. Older teenagers may enjoy the chance to work with children or do some ‘community service’. If your children have grown up, you have helped in the past or you are a teacher we would be grateful for your experience.
You are welcome to come out with the children on one of the next few Sundays to see what we do. Please call me if you are interested or have any questions.

Dear Friends in Christ
In today’s feast we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus by John in the waters of the Jordan. Though He Himself had no stains to be washed away, He wished to submit Himself to this rite as he submitted Himself to the other requirements of the Law. As a human being He submitted Himself to the laws that ruled and governed the lives of the people of Israel who had been elected by God to prepare the way for the Redeemer. John the Baptist carried out energetically his mission to prophesy and arouse a great movement towards repentance as an immediate preparation for the coming of the Messiah. The Lord desired to be Baptised says St Augustine, so that He might freely proclaim through His humility what for us was to be a necessity. The Faith of the Church is that Baptism is necessary for salvation. By the simple rite of having water poured over us and with the formula of words, we have the guarantee from Christ that we become Children of God. On this feast we can give thanks for the grace of Baptism by which Original Sin is cleansed, we become members of the Catholic Church and heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven. This Sunday afternoon there is the Annual Blessing of the recently Baptised Infants; an occasion when, with their parents and godparents we offer thanks for the grace of this Sacrament of Initiation and receive a token of Mary’s protection and help through the clothing with a Miraculous Medal.
For a new Bishop
Father, You have given us your Son, Jesus Christ, to teach, sanctify and govern Your people. You also gave us the gift of Your Holy Spirit so that we may forever remain one in Your name.
We thank You for our past bishops who have served the Diocese of Brentwood.
Father, we ask that You look with favor upon those in the Church, who will prayerfully select our new bishop. Give them a Spirit of wisdom and counsel that they may discern Your will.
We ask in the name of your Son, that You bless our future bishop. Provide him with the gifts he will need to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ in our Diocese.
Grant him the heart of Your Son, the heart of the Good Shepherd. Bestow upon him the zeal of St Paul in preaching the Gospel; the humility of St. John Vianney in ministering the sacraments; the compassion of St Vincent de Paul in serving those most in need; and the wisdom of St Augustine in teaching the doctrine of the church.
We ask this through the intercession of Mary, our Mother and model, and our Lady of Lourdes, Patroness of our Diocese
