Monsignor Kevin Canon Hale

Parish Priest since October 2003

Monsignor Kevin Hale is a native of the Diocese of Brentwood and grew up in Wanstead, in the East End of London, where he was educated in Catholic schools. He entered Allen Hall Seminary, where he studied Philosophy and Theology, and was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Thomas McMahon in 1984.

Following his ordination, Fr Kevin served as Assistant Priest in Ilford, Rayleigh and Colchester. He was subsequently appointed Parish Priest of Romford, where he served for nine years before being appointed Parish Priest of Leigh in October 2003.

Alongside his parish ministry, Fr Kevin has undertaken a number of responsibilities within the Diocese of Brentwood. He served as Dean of Southend, Chairman of the Council of Priests, and Administrator of the Sick and Retired Clergy Fund. He continued his theological studies at the Maryvale Institute and was awarded a Master of Arts degree in 1995.

In 2014, the Bishop of Brentwood, Bishop Alan Williams SM, appointed Fr Kevin Vicar General of the Diocese. In recognition of his service to the Diocese, he was appointed a member of the Brentwood Chapter of Canons in 2016.

In August 2023, Pope Francis appointed Fr Kevin a Chaplain of His Holiness, conferring upon him the title of Monsignor.

Throughout his priestly ministry, Monsignor Kevin has sought to combine faithful service to the Church with a deep commitment to parish life, the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy, and the pastoral care of those entrusted to his ministry.
