Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School and Nursery

Our school was started with Catholic Faith and this continues to be the key to our approach today. We are named after Mary the mother of Jesus who appeared to St Bernadette in Lourdes in France. Our school is a place of respect for every one and our Catholic Faith helps us to treat everyone well and believe in ourselves so we can do well.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School and Nursery was built in the late 1950s to serve the people of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Peter’s Parishes and so our catchment area spreads from the Hadleigh border to the edge of Westcliff including Leigh, Chalkwell and Eastwood. We are lucky to teach and support children from other Christian faiths, those of other faiths and those who have none.

Our teachers know how important it is to have a solid curriculum that encourages everyone to learn. We have great teaching assistants who help our teachers and children to do well too. We really enjoy finding out about the world in science because we have the chance to do exciting experiments. We love music where we play instruments or learn great songs—we like hearing different pieces too. We enjoy the opportunity to experiment in art and to learn programming and other skills in computing too. Our school loves sport and we enjoy cross country, football, netball and a range of activities every week. We love swimming lessons!

Saint Thomas More High School

St Thomas More High School is a vibrant learning community with a strong family ethos and a distinctive Catholic identity. We aim to develop our students as confident young people, well prepared and fully equipped with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to make a positive contribution to the wider world as responsible citizens. As a Catholic school we respect each student as a unique person with God-given gifts, qualities and particular needs and we hope that every student will enjoy learning and thrive on the experience of being a member of our school community. We believe that the years spent with us should engage and enrich our young people, challenge and support them to aspire towards high standards of self-discipline and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of school life.

Our school is led by a talented and dedicated staff who work tirelessly for the benefit of our students. As a result, our school is a well-disciplined and considerate environment where students achieve well. We encourage respect for others and an understanding and tolerance towards all races, religion and cultures.
Please visit our website and download our school prospectus which will give factual information about the ways in which we try to achieve our mission and aims.  However it is no substitute for coming to see for yourselves. A personal visit will help you appreciate what is so special about our school community.

Saint Bernard’s High School

Saint Bernard’s is committed to the academic and personal growth of all our students. We are a community based on the Christian values of respect, service and justice.

Throughout the school academic success flows from the strengths and values of our school community. We understand the importance of high levels of academic performance; our examination results place the school in the top 5% of all schools for academic progress, and this success is underpinned by the talent of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the commitment of our parents.

We are a school with a strong ethos which remains central to everything that we do. Students are acutely aware of the special atmosphere with its commitment to pastoral support, tolerance and inclusion, the strong sense of community spirit, and of our dedication to ensuring students become active citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

As well as their academic studies, students have access to a broad range of social, sporting, artistic and leadership enrichment activities. There is fun to be had, there are friendships to be made and there are opportunities to succeed.

The Sixth Form students are an active and integral part of the school. Boys and girls from other local schools join the Sixth Form each year and settle quickly and successfully.

St Bernard’s High School is an oversubscribed Catholic Academy for Arts and Science. It provides an excellent education for all its students. Students of all abilities can expect success within a safe and supportive learning environment. We hold The NACE challenge award which recognises our ability to provide a challenging learning environment for students of all abilities. In 2016 we saw continuing success at A-level allowing our students to move on to a wide range of University courses.
