Serving the Homeless are holding a wine tasting at St Bernard’s High School on Friday 4th July. Tickets are £16, which includes a buffet supper, and are available from Linda Wall 558217 or Jo Ronan 474062.
Summer holiday fun activity—the ‘Hawk Eye’ walk through Leigh hunting for clues with a prize for the winning entry. Copies, price £3, will be on sale after Masses over the weekend 19th/20th July, or contact Nina Bridgeman on 01702 472536.
Sick & Retired Clergy Fund
This weekend, 21st/22nd June, there will the Annual Collection for our Sick and Retired Clergy. Your generosity through donations, the annual collection and bequests is greatly appreciated.
Chartwell House, Kent
A coach trip to Chartwell House, former home of Winston Churchill, is proposed for Thursday 18th September. Cost £30.00 each, including coach fare, entrance to house and garden and afternoon tea. If interested please phone Cynthia or Pat on Southend 477384/479795 for more details.

The next Carmelite Meeting will be on the 28th June. The Rosary will be said in the Church at 2.15 pm, followed by the Meeting from 2.30 to 5 pm in the John Newman Room of the Parish Centre. All are welcome.

David and Thérèse Britt would like to thank the Parish for their kindness, prayers and support during the long illness of their son-in-law Paul De Naeyer who died recently; Paul leaves their daughter Ruth and two young sons Jacob and Daniel. The funeral is at 10.30 am on Wednesday 25th June at St Hugh of Lincoln, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire. All friends most welcome to attend.

Trinity Sunday
Dear friends in Christ
This month of June is full of lovely feasts. We have already begun the month with The Ascension and Pentecost and now this weekend we celebrate the central truth revealed about God: the Blessed Trinity. Before us we have also Corpus Christi, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, SS Peter and Paul. Each of these celebrations allows us to rejoice in a particular mystery of the Faith or one of our friends in Heaven.
Next Sunday - Corpus Christi - is a particular favourite of mine. Each year there is this special festival which allows us to celebrate in a very Catholic way the central Mystery of Faith. Our love for Jesus really and truly present in the Blessed Sacrament - in the Mass - gives rise to the many expressions of devotion that surround this celebration: Holy Hours, visits to the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharistic Procession. All of these are ways of living our Faith which not only have the pure intention of worshipping God, but they also witness the most precious Gift that Jesus has left His Church, namely His very self. I encourage you all as ever, to make a special effort to attend the Procession next Sunday which begins in the church at 4.00pm.
On a personal note, the Vigil of the Birthday of St John the Baptist marks my thirtieth anniversary of Priestly Ordination. I would like to mark this milestone by simply offering Mass on that occasion (Monday 23rd, 7.30pm) in Thanksgiving for the Gift of Priesthood. In this way, I can give thanks to God for all the graces received and given through the Sacrament of Holy Orders. After the Mass there will be a Reception in the Gilbert Room of the Parish Centre.
