Scripture Group
Fr Con Joyce’s Scripture Group meets in the Parish Centre 8pm-9pm next Thursday, 4th June and fortnightly thereafter. These meetings are held to give
us a better understanding of the Bible, to encourage us to read it and so help
us to come closer to Jesus in our daily lives as Christians. All welcome.
Gift Aid
Thank you to all those Parishioners who gift-aided their contributions last tax year 2014/15. In order to save on postage and printing, we will only be providing letters to those Parishioners who require one to complete their tax return for the Inland Revenue. If you require a letter, please email the Parish Office at office@lourdesleigh.org

Sick & Retired Clergy Fund
Next weekend, 6th/7th June, there will be the Annual Collection for our Sick and Retired Clergy. The Sick & Retired Clergy Fund is part of the Diocesan Charity which is to help and support our retired and sick clergy. As a Charity they rely on the generosity of the Parishes and individual donations to keep the Fund in a healthy state. Another valuable means is by including a bequest in your Will. Your generosity through donations, the annual collection and bequests is greatly appreciated.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of:
Fr Jim McCormack. His body will be received into Our Lady of Light and St Osyth’s Church, Clacton-on-Sea on Monday 1st June at 4.30pm and the Requiem Mass will take place on Tuesday 2nd June at 11.30am. He will be buried with his parents in Ireland.

Solemnity of Pentecost
Dear Friends in Christ
Pentecost relives the moment when the Holy Spirit came powerfully upon the infant Church and enabled the Apostles to preach the Gospel, starting in Jerusalem and going to the ends of the earth. This is the mandate we have all received, and the grace of that Day is renewed throughout the Church on this feast. The Sacrament of Confirmation is given at Pentecost to those who seek to complete their initiation into the life of the Church, it is a grace that confers the power of the Holy Spirit to help us become full and adult members of the Body of Christ.
In the prayer that invokes the Holy Spirit on those being Confirmed, we ask God to bestow the gifts of the Spirit: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of right judgement and courage, the spirit of knowledge and reverence. Fill them with the spirit of awe in your presence. These are given for the benefit of the whole Church, so that together we can build the Family of the Church and be witnesses of the Resurrection, which is the first task of being an Apostle. Please pray for the thirty-two being Confirmed during the 11.30am Mass this Sunday that, like the first group of Apostles gathered in the Upper Room with Mary, they, with us, may be ardent in faith hope and love.
At the end of last year our Parish Master of Ceremonies – Mr Gerry Dillon – retired after a long and faithful service to the Parish in that role. This weekend will be his last serving at Sunday Mass, although he will continue as a weekday Mass server. Once again I thank him for all the commitment and dedication he has given me and my predecessors down the years.
I wish a blessed feast of Pentecost to you all!

It will start from St Thomas of Canterbury church, 557-559 High Road, Woodford Green, IG8 ORB. Mass at 9 am followed at approximately 9.45am by a prayerful and peaceful procession to Marie Stopes Abortion Centre, processing with image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Holy Rosary and hymns. Return procession, with prayer and hymns at 12pm. 12.30 pm break for teas and get together. Please bring a packed lunch.
Please join us, you really do make all the difference and please try to bring someone with you. For those of you who are unable to join the procession vigil, please be with us spiritually.
