School Admission Forms
Parents wishing to apply to Catholic Schools - primary or secondary - for next academic year are required to obtain a Letter of Catholic Practise from their Parish Priest. These will be issued on the last weekend in September, the times which will be given at the end of the Summer holidays. These are issued only to practising Catholics (i.e. those who attend weekly Mass). Furthermore, this practise of the Faith will be viewed over a period of time and not just the weeks prior to an application. Parish Priests may also look at the date of Baptism in the case of Primary School applications, noting those children who have been Baptised soon after birth as compared to those Baptised with proximity to school age. This is a matter of justice to all involved in applying for places in our Schools. Our schools are often oversubscribed and in order to be fair, preference will justly be given to those who live and practise the Faith as well as who contribute to the life of the Church through the various ways in which that support is given.

Study Day at Gidea Park
Fr Adrian Graffy, parish priest of Gidea Park and member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, will lead a study day entitled ‘God’s Mercy is from Age to Age: the mercy of God in the Old Testament’ on Saturday 8th October from 11am until 3pm at Christ the Eternal High Priest, Gidea Park, RM2 6DH. The study day in this Year of Mercy will explore the presence of God’s mercy in the Scriptures.
Admission is free, tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch. Ample free parking is available at the church, which is three minutes’ walk from Gidea Park Station. It is essential to book your place and this should be done by email to GPstudydays@gmail.com

The Sisters are looking for people to enhance the life of the residents by sitting with them, assisting at meal times, bringing the resident out for a walk/shopping etc. You can help for as little or as long as you can and if you are there during meal time then you will be provided with a hot meal. The Assumption of Our Blessed Lady
Dear friends in Christ
This weekend we are celebrating the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. Normally celebrated on 15th August, this year it gets moved to the nearest Sunday. I am personally very happy that I shall get to celebrate this lovely feast in Lourdes on Monday together with our Bishop and hundreds of pilgrims from our Diocese, including twenty-five of our Parish Family. I shall offer Holy Mass for the intentions of the Parish whilst there and, it goes without saying, I shall keep you and all your special intentions in my Masses and Rosaries during the days we are in Lourdes. I always feel very privileged to be able to visit Lourdes, not just because our Parish is under the special patronage of Our Lady, but because it is always such a boost to the spiritual life.
This great Solemnity of Mary’s Assumption into Heaven reminds us of the great truth we hold: God loved His Mother so much that at the end of her earthly life He took her body and soul into the glory of Heaven. In other words, He did not allow her body to experience the normal process that follows-on from death. Why? It was not just because she was His Mother, but also because she had been preserved from all stain of sin, especially Original Sin, from the first moment of her conception. For this reason the Church has great cause to celebrate this Day each year as we recall that Mary awaits us and beckons us onwards and upwards to live the life of the Blessed Trinity that she now experiences in Heaven, ahead of us.
