A Nursery Class Teacher is required from September for our Nursery Class, on a part-time basis as a job share. (Hours to be confirmed) NQTs are welcome to apply. We are looking for a committed person to join our accomplished, able and enthusiastic staff in our wonderful school in the Nursery Class. The successful candidate will be: an excellent teacher, an effective team player, energetic and enthusiastic and well organised. Ideally we are looking for a teacher who has Early Years experience and can work seamlessly with our current Nursery teacher to provide a fabulous learning journey for our fantastic children. Lenten Lunches
Lunches will be on the Fridays of Lent from 12.30pm in the Parish Centre, the last lunch being 7th April. A contribution of £5 will include homemade soup, rolls, cheese, fruit, tea or coffee. This year all proceeds will be divided between Southend YMCA Children's Project and Southend Women's Refuge.
Reception into the Church
During the 11.30am Mass this Sunday, those wishing to be received into the Church will be presented with copies of the Apostles’ Creed. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Lenten Talks
Because of the Centenary Mass on 22nd March there is no talk at Nazareth House. The next talk will be on Wednesday 29th March at 7.30pm and will be on the subject of "Abortion, the new holocaust, 50 years since the Abortion Act" and will be given by speakers from SPUC.
ABC - About being Catholic
The series of informal talks designed to give an insight into the teachings and traditions of the Catholic church continues every Monday, starting at 8pm in the Parish Centre. 20th March: Life Issues - Moral Christian Life. SERVING THE HOMELESS
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 3rd April at 7.30pm in St Margaret's Church Hall, Lime Avenue, Leigh on Sea. Everyone is welcome to attend.
A Day with Mary
There will be "A Day With Mary" in Our Lady of Canvey Church on Saturday, 22nd April, which is also Divine Mercy weekend, so priests will be available for Confession. The day consists of Mass, Sermons, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic Procession. We begin at 10.00am and all are welcome.

Dear Friends in Christ
The message of this Sunday of Lent is: the thought of Heaven is what keeps us steadfast in the midst of life on earth. It was the moment of the Transfiguration of Jesus, that let the Apostles see his glory as God, which kept them steadfast in the face of the Passion which was to come. Without this help they would have quite probably lost faith. St Bede comments on this passage of the Gospel saying: Our Lord in a loving concession allowed Peter, James and John to enjoy for a very short time the contemplation of the happiness that lasts forever, so as to enable them to bear adversity with greater fortitude. There is no doubt that the memory of those moments beside Our Lord on the mountain helped the three Apostles through many difficult moments in their lives. Often God gives us such moments of comfort, which we can cherish, but most of the time Faith is lived-out without these sensible helps. The Christian life is very ordinary, which is why it is our task to make something extraordinary out of the prose of daily living. Heaven awaits us; and we must invest everything in that conviction.

Please pray for our young adults who will begin their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation at Pentecost this Sunday evening. Also our younger children who are preparing for their First Holy Communion by their First Confession over these two weekends. Please also remember to pray daily our Parish Mission Prayer not only for a fruitful Mission in October but also for those souls who have wandered from the practise of their Faith; by our prayers and apostolic efforts they may receive the grace to come Home. May God bless you in your continued Lenten endeavours of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

Spring Walk

Gift Aid Envelopes
New boxes of envelopes for those in the Gift Aid Scheme will be available for collection on 18th/19th and 25th/26th March. If you wish to gift aid your weekly offering by using envelopes, please complete a Gift Aid Form, available at the back of Church, and either hand it in to the Parish office or place it in the offertory collection. You will then receive a box of envelopes for your weekly collection.
