QUIZ NIGHT Because the event clashes with Leigh Lights next week it has been decided to reschedule the quiz for another evening. A new date will be advised.
Bublé EVENING SUCCESS The Michael Bublé tribute evening held two weeks ago was a great success and raised £118. Thanks to everyone who contributed to what was a great evening’s entertainment.

SEA of VOICES CHOIR Our community choir will perform in two concerts in December: Saturday 9th December, 4pm at Prittlewell Priory in a concert organised by the Southend YMCA to help the homeless (Tickets £10) and on Sunday 10th December at 3pm at Nazareth House for residents. Christmas Bazaar, Sunday 3rd December 2017
Thanks to everyone for their donations so far. Please keep them coming. We really could use bottles for the bottle stall so the Knights of St Columba are kept busy! Plus, don't forget your cakes (on the day) for the lovely ladies of the CWL.

Gaudeamus Christmas Concert, Friday 15th December 2017, 7.30pm
Gaudeamus is a chamber choir of 26 singers based in Leigh-on-Sea. They sing a wide range of music ranging from Renaissance to present day works but are particularly noted for their a capella (unaccompanied) singing. They will be singing a variety of Christmas carols and also the audience will be invited (and actively encouraged!) to participate in some well-known carols during the concert.

Serving the Homeless are holding a Christmas Wreath Making Morning on 12th December at 10am at Highlands Methodist Church, Sutherland Boulevard, Leigh-on-Sea. Journey of Faith (RCIA)
A series of informal talks, designed to give an insight into the teachings and traditions of the Catholic church, continues on Monday 20th November at 8pm in the Parish Centre with Who is Jesus. The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins in the Gospel of this Sunday highlights one of the themes that is held before us throughout this month of November; namely, the second coming of Christ and the final judgement, and our eternal destiny. We have to hold daily in our minds this thought of eternal life. A person in love does not forget. As long as the Lord is our highest priority, we will remain vigilant. We will not become distracted. We will heed the Lord’s counsel at the conclusion of the parable: Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

To prepare ourselves for this encounter with the Lord we need to acquire a profound understanding of ourselves. We are now living in a time of testing. As St Paul warned the Corinthians: If we judged ourselves truly, we should not be judged. Let us not be taken by surprise, then, by our past faults and failings. We need to make that daily examination of conscience so that we can identify our trouble spots and apply the necessary remedy.
Throughout November we continue to pray for our departed loved one - the Holy Souls in Purgatory - that, helped by our prayers and Masses offered for them, they will experience the blessedness of being with God and all the Saints in Heaven.
