The Queen's Platinum Jubilee
At all Sunday Masses on 4–5 June 2022, each Parish will pray for Her Majesty the Queen to mark her Platinum Jubilee by including an intention in the Prayer of the Faithful and by reciting at the end of Mass (after the Prayer after Communion and before the Final Blessing) the Prayer for the Queen.
Prayer for the Queen
Following the Prayer after Communion:
V. O Lord, save Elizabeth, our Queen.
R. And hear us on the day we call upon you.
V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come before you.
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with your spirit.
Almighty God, we pray,
that your servant Elizabeth, our Queen,
who, by your providence has received the governance of this realm,
may continue to grow in every virtue,
that, imbued with your heavenly grace,
she may be preserved from all that is harmful and evil
and, being blessed with your favour
may, with the royal family,
come at last into your presence,
through Christ who is the way, the truth and the life
and who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen

Flower Festival - 10th September 2022
It is time to be creative again! Thank you to all those who have already said that they want to take part.
The theme of the Flower and Arts & Crafts festival this year is Christian Feasts and Festivals. Like last year we would like people to create a flower arrangement, or tapestries, paintings, photographs (or any type of craft work) on the theme chosen.
The main topics will be: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Holy Family, Lent, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christ the King, Pentecost, Ascension Day, Corpus Christi, All Saints & All Souls Day, St Peter & Paul.
There are of course other special feast days you can choose. In Anglican churches Harvest festivals are prominent whilst there are several special feast days for Our Lady in the Catholic church.
Many people who visit during the festival have no religious background and we want to present a powerful and prayerful message about Christianity.
Please let me know which theme or themes you will be doing and in what medium. (mcronan@btinternet.com)
Thanks, Jo Ronan

BCCS Relay100
Last year, volunteers took part in the Diocesan relay from parish to parish for Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society (BCCS) and we’re doing it again!
The Bishop launched the whole event on May 9th, and I have volunteered to do the Lady of Lourdes leg again to St.Helen’s Westcliff before the end of June (date to be confirmed). Our Lady of Lourdes parishioners raised over £100 last time for our leg last year but the most important thing is that BCCS covers all the parishes and shows the importance of the work they do for children.
If you would like to sponsor me you can by either using my sponsorship form - available at teas & coffees after 9.30am and 11.30am Sunday masses from 21st May or by going online to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/relay100 If appropriate, please use gift aid for your donation. Please mention my name and Relay 100 in the sponsorship note as a reference so that BCCS can trace your donation online.
You can also donate by BACS at Account: Brentwood Catholic Childrens Society; Account Number: 3109413; Sort Code: 40 13 22. Again please quote BCCS Relay100 and my name D Binding. Thank you so much for your support. Darrell Binding

Sixth Sunday of Easter
Dear friends in Christ
During this forty-day period between Easter and the Ascension of Our Lord, the Church asks us to keep our eyes on heaven, our final dwelling place, to which Our Lord is calling us.
Dear friends in Christ
During this forty-day period between Easter and the Ascension of Our Lord, the Church asks us to keep our eyes on heaven, our final dwelling place, to which Our Lord is calling us. This invitation becomes more pressing as we approach the day on which Jesus went up to the right hand of His Father. Our Lord had promised his disciples in a little while he would be with them forever. Our Lord has kept His promise in this period when He stays close to His loved ones. But His promise will not end when He goes up with His glorious body to His Father, because, by His passion and death He has prepared for us a place in his Father's house, where there are many mansions. Thursday is The Ascension of Jesus into Heaven and a time for us to reflect that though He has gone from our physical sight, He remains with us sacramentally, with His Body and Blood in the Blessed Eucharist. As we sing in the hymn for Eastertide: Though the clouds from sight received Him...shall our hearts forget his promise, 'I am with you evermore’…in the Eucharistic Feast.
This Wednesday—Vigil of The Ascension—our Bishop, Alan Williams, will be making his three-yearly Visitation of our Parish. He will visit Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School in the afternoon and speak with the children and staff there. During Mass in the evening, he will confer the Sacrament of Confirmation on fifty of our young people including several adults. Our Bishop is the first teacher of the Faith in the Diocese, our Shepherd, appointed by the Vicar of Christ, the Pope, to guide, govern and instruct God’s holy people. He is an Apostle. As such, we welcome him as the one who comes to confirm us in the Faith of Christ and His Church. I know you will pray for our young adults who are to be Confirmed, that by the grace they receive from the Holy Spirit, they will take their places as fully-initiated adult members of the Church.
May God bless you all!
Msgr Kevin Hale
