CAFOD’s Lent Fast Day—Friday 14th March
CAFOD’s mission is to end poverty and injustice in the global south. To do that it works directly with local communities and organisations to find practical and lasting solutions to hunger and poverty. The organisation relies on our prayers, donations and actions to end poverty in our world, on our behalf. Please support CAFOD’s Lent Fast Day on Friday 14 March. The gift envelopes at the back of the church provide more information about CAFOD’s work and if you are able to give a donation, you can return it in the envelope next weekend. Thank you.

Margueriteville CMC
After the successful February event a £500 donation to the Parish centre fund was made by the Club. The Margueriteville will continue to raise funds for the Parish Centre; as a fundraising parish group we welcome new members amongst our parishioners, whether you like dancing or listening to good live country & western music. Donations of raffle prizes are also welcome! The next event at St James’ Church Hall Elmsleigh Drive will be on 22nd March with the exciting Daniel Berry, but on 21st June we will holding our first gig at the Lourdes Parish centre in the Gilbert Room, entertained by a great two piece band, Steve Scott’s Changes – more details will follow nearer the time.

Serving The Homeless
The Annual General Meeting of Serving the Homeless will be held on Monday 31st March at St Margret’s Church Hall, Lime Avenue at 7.45 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Future events for your diary:
22nd March - Quiz Night at St. Margaret’s. Tables of eight—£3.50 per person. Ring Jo Ronan on 474062 if you would like to book a table.
27th April - Service of Praise and Thanksgiving at Highlands Methodist Church at 6.30 pm.
14th May - Meal at East at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost £15 each and are available from Linda Wall on 558217.
4th July - Wine Tasting at St Bernards School at 7.30 pm
6th July - Treasure Trail - starting from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Centre at 2.30 pm. Entrance is £5 per family.
Parish Centre
Now that the Parish Centre is open and available for the use of the Parish, it is Important that we all respect the fabric of the building and the environment of the site.
The entrance/exit to the courtyard is a potential hazard for cars until Southend Borough Council make good the cross-over, so please take care when driving in. You may use it at your own risk.
Refreshments are now available in the Parish Centre after Mass, except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Lavatory facilities are available in case of necessity during Mass within the Centre through the first door on the left as you enter; the facilities to the rear of the Sacristy should now no longer need to be used.
When accessing the Centre from the church, please use the cloistered walkway at all times for reasons of pedestrian safety.
Within the Parish Centre the main floors are laid with high quality oak; inappropriate footwear will damage them!
The lift is only to be used by those who cannot use the stairs.
Please respect all of the fabric of our new building which will ensure that repairs and maintenance can be kept to a minimum.
