Luxury Hamper Raffle
The CWL Luxury Hamper Raffle will be drawn on Monday, 1 December, so this is the last weekend that you will be able to buy a ticket. Tickets will be on sale at the back, after Masses, for £1 a ticket. The lucky winner will be notified as soon as possible after the draw.

Serving the Homeless
We would like to thank everyone who supported our recent Jazz Night, and apologies to those that we could not squeeze in. As the musicians generously gave their services free, we were able to raise £900 for our winter projects.
Our next event is a family concert of ‘Songs and Poems for Christmas’, followed by mince pies and mulled wine. It will be held at St Barnabas Church, Church Road, Hadleigh, on the 19th December at 7.15pm. Please try to join us for this celebration, with any donations going towards our local projects.
Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society - Tree of Angels
In remembrance of a loved one, BCCS invites you to dedicate a symbolic angel on their Christmas Tree of Angels. The Tree of Angel Service will be held at Our Lady of Ransom Church, Rayleigh on Sunday 7th December at 4 pm. For further information contact Julie Abbott 01268 784544/jabbott@bccs.org.uk

Father Kevin is pleased to confirm that the Parish youth group for young people 14 years old and above, will have its first meeting in the parish centre at 7:30pm on Wednesday 7th January. The group aims to provide a forum for fun and learning about the Catholic faith in a friendly & informal setting. Meetings will involve a talk and discussion on topics decided by members, as well as occasional talks by visiting experts, and eventually visits to relevant locations in the surrounding area. The group also aims to provide a conduit between the Parish and the Diocesan Youth Service. If you are interested, please come along on the 7th January.
Scripture Group
The Scripture Group will meet this Thursday, 4th December from 8pm to 9pm in the Parish Centre.

Jesus Christ, Our Universal King
Dear friends in Christ
The end of the Church year this weekend is a celebration of the Kingship of Christ. Being governed by a constitutional monarchy, we are still able to have some idea of the symbolism contained in this feast. Kingship is found in the Old Testament as the way God chose leaders, anointed them and ruled His people. In the New Testament Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, is sent and anointed by God the Father to be the Universal Lord of all hearts. On this last Sunday of the liturgical year we can keep in our minds and hearts the image of Christ reigning over us, and rest secure and comfortable with the image of a Sovereign who wishes to find His throne first and foremost in the hearts of his subjects.
As usual at this time, we conclude the year with the three days of Solemn Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration, commencing with the Opening Mass on Thursday evening at seven o’clock, and concluding with Benediction on Saturday afternoon at four o’clock. What is this about? It is about enthroning Jesus at the centre of our church, Parish and lives, so that He can draw us, His subjects, closer to His Heart. We can thus come before the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the church for silent prayer and adoration. Do come in large numbers; bring your friends and children to the arms of Jesus outstretched in welcome. The time spent in silent adoration often seems fruitless to the mentality of the world, but we understand that time spent in prayer with Our Lord is time spent wisely; and we all have so much to pray for. As the world seems to move further from Christ, let us draw closer to him. Veni, Si Amas….come if you love.
This Sunday is also designated World Youth Day, as a moment when we pray for and encourage our young people in the Faith. One of our young adults will speak at the end of Mass about the work of the Catholic Youth Service and of ways that we can help and support them in their growing in Faith. God bless you all!
