Scripture Group
Fr Con Joyce’s Scripture Group will next meet in the Parish Centre 8pm-9pm on Thursday, 22nd September. Fr. Con will be talking about the prophets starting with Isaiah. These meetings are held to give us a better understanding of the Bible, to encourage us to read it and so help us to come closer to Jesus in our daily lives as Christians. All welcome.

Our next event is an Italian Tapas Evening with Magic by Paul Clancy. Additionally Elizabeth Usher will sing some Italian operetta songs. This will be held in the Parish Centre on Saturday 22nd October at 7.00 pm. Tickets cost £10 each and are available from Jo Ronan 474062, Nina 472536 or Theresa 335122. Please bring your own drinks for the evening.

Knights of Saint Columba 1000th Celebration Mass
Council 192 Southend was inaugurated on 1st January 1928 – on Wednesday
21st September 2016 we celebrate our 1000th Council meeting. Join us to celebrate this wonderful landmark with Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes and Saint Joseph, Leigh-on-Sea, on Wednesday 21st September at 7:30pm. We thank God for the Knights who have gone before us and built the foundations on which we now stand and ask God to give the strength to continue the good work so future generations may enjoy this wonderful organisation’s principles – Charity, Unity and Fraternity.

Saturday 24th September - Going Deeper
An initial meeting will take place at St Helens at 11am - 1pm. An opportunity to walk through the Spiritual exercise of Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits. Thanks to the Idaho Jesuits a programme has been developed for the laity to follow the path that every Jesuit takes during their formation. Usually taking place over a 30 day silent retreat, this course is designed to run over 9 months. Each participant would be asked to follow a daily prayer plan, which can take between 15-30 minutes. We are hoping to meet every two weeks in the hall, and have a Jesuit guide us and offer input every two months. There is a small admin charge of £5 for the course booklet. All those who are looking to deepen their walk with the Lord will not be disappointed.
