BCYS Youth Gather 20th - 21st October 2018, Essex Outdoors, East Mersea
This event is open to those in school year 9 and above. We are delighted to be back at Essex Outdoors on Mersea Island for our annual Youth Gather, where there is new cabin accommodation and a brilliant range of outward bound activities. We will combine opportunities for climbing high ropes, abseiling, zip wires and much more to keep you challenged and entertained, with guest speakers and workshops which will give you fresh insights into yourself, and your faith, by telling their stories. One of our speakers for this Autumn will be the lively, humorous and engaging speaker Fr Paul Keane, Vice Rector of St Mary’s College, Oscott.
The cost includes lunch and dinner on Saturday 20th, breakfast and lunch on Sunday 21st, two Mersea activities, 2 BCYS workshops, and a night in a Mersea log cabin – all of this for just £50. This price is thanks to National Youth Sunday parish collections, to help us subsidise such opportunities.
Applications for this year’s Youth Gather on Mersea Island will open on the evening of 29th July, on our return from Lourdes. You can apply by creating an account at www.bcys.net and applying on the Events page.

The Catholic Mothers Apostolate
The Catholic Mothers Apostolate is offering a retreat for teen girls and their mums. Join them at Aylesford Priory in October for a day dedicated to learning more about women’s issues, including what it means to be a Catholic woman; how to improve mother-daughter communication; how fertility affects our lives at every stage; and how to grow in the faith.
Mums and daughters will have plenty of time to talk through the issues together and build their relationship, as well as meet other Catholic mothers and daughters. Tickets are £120 per mother-daughter pair, with an Early Bird rate of £100. Visit https://www.tickettailor.com/events/catholicmothers/177368 for more details.

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Friends in christ
As many of us begin the long summer break this week, the Gospel image of Jesus looking out upon us with compassion, is perhaps a good image to keep before our eyes. As we take time away from our normal work, school and home routines, we can never forget that we are under the constant gaze of Jesus. May all our time here on earth give glory to God so that we never forget to put Him first, and especially each week in the Mass, which should be the centre and motivating source of all that we do and are.

We wish all our schools, staff and students, a very well deserved break, and a time of refreshment and renewal at home or abroad!
On Monday the annual Diocesan Pilgrimage sets-off with a large contingent of pilgrims from across our Diocese, to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Included within this pilgrimage from our Diocese there are 250 young people, 12 of whom are from our own Parish, which is a great tribute to their generosity and that of their families who have encouraged them and friends who have sponsored them. Be assured that we will all be held in their thoughts and prayers at Mass, in the rosaries, and in the processions and other devotional acts during the week.
May God bless you all and may Our Lady continue to protect us!
