Diocese of Brentwood Marriage Conference
There is an inaugural conference for those in national and local organisations, parishes and deaneries working to support and promote marriage on Saturday, 6th July in Cathedral Hall, Brentwood.
About this Event:
Keynote speakers: Brenden Thompson, Lead Coordinator, Catholic Voices, and Laura Thompson, Teacher and Catholic Voice.
Additional input from the Diocesan Marriage and Family Life Team, and free-ranging discussion on ministry to married couples and families and Diocesan renewal.
Doors open from 10am with tea and coffee available. Free buffet lunch - donations welcome on the day or when registering.
The annual Mass of Thanksgiving for Marriage and Family Life takes place in the Cathedral at 3pm, followed by a reception in the Hall. Bishop Alan Williams sm will be the principal celebrant and preacher at this Mass. Conference participants are welcome; please indicate if you are staying via your choice of event ticket. It is something that we experience both in the celebration of Holy Mass, and whenever we come into the presence of Jesus in the Tabernacle or in times of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Because Maundy Thursday is overshadowed by the events of Good Friday and the Passion, the Church wished to have a separate Day on which we could celebrate The mystery of Faith.
Dear Friends in Christ

This weekend throughout the Church, in times of Eucharistic adoration and Processions, the Catholic Faithful express their love and devotion to a God who has wished to remain with us on earth. Jesus has done this by making Himself completely vulnerable in the Mass and in the Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the one thing that makes our Catholic churches unique and separate from any other building, be they church, temple or dwelling. This is because God Himself abides there. Whenever we come into the church in the silence of prayer, we have the knowledge that we are before Jesus Himself. With thanksgiving to Almighty God for having given Himself to us in this way, we can give generously of our time to be at Holy Mass, in adoration and in the Procession which takes place this Sunday afternoon at 4pm. Please join with our First Communicants - who lead the Procession - in giving Jesus our hearts in return for the love of His Divine Heart.

St Thomas More High School - Open Evening
This will be held on Thursday 11th July, 6pm to 9pm, for families who have a son due to transfer to secondary school in September 2020, come and see the school, meet the staff and pupils. The Headteachers talk will begin at 7pm. Prospective sixth form students for September 2020 are also welcome, although there will be an open evening for students currently in year 10 on Thursday 21st November 2019. Parents of boys who wish to apply to St Thomas More School for a place in September 2020 should complete the local education authority single application form (saf) and fill in the supplementary information form (sif) that can be collected at the open evening. Leigh on Sea Lay Carmelites
Coach going to Aylesford Priory on Sunday 14th July, to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Holy Mass at 11.30 am. Talk in the afternoon. Rosary Procession and Benediction at 3.30 pm. Flower Festival
We would like to say a huge thank you to all who took part in the Flower Festival last weekend. To those who created the wonderful displays, and the ladies from the Thursday group who worked all day making teas and coffees and provided lovely cakes for our visitors. Also, thanks to those of you who helped to welcome visitors and introduce them to our Church and to the displays. Finally, thank you to those who came to support us and bring along family and friends.
We would like to thank especially Marian who produced a beautiful sound track for us to use and Spencer who played the organ creating a wonderful atmosphere in the Church.
The response was uplifting. Most visitors had never been in the church before and were effusive in their praise of the work that had gone into the floral interpretations of the hymns. We would like to share some comments, “It touched my soul”, “A perfect mix, of religion, flowers and music”, “A beautiful Church, which we have never visited apart from walking through your garden many times. Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for being a wonderful part of our community and also for the brilliant work for the homeless.” Nearly £450 was raised during the day in donations in the Church and for refreshments for ‘Serving the Homeless.’ Thank you again. St Bernard's High School - A Catholic Academy for Arts & Science
Open Evening for Year 5 Students (Prospective Year 7 in 2020). Wednesday 3 July 2019 6.00pm to 9.00pm. We would be delighted to welcome Year 5 girls and their parents/carers to our Open Evening. This is an evening for girls wishing to join Year 7 in September 2020. We are also offering an opportunity for parents/carers to visit the school during a normal teaching day, on Tuesday 8 October, Wednesday 9 October and Thursday 10 October between 9.30am and 11.00am. No appointments are necessary: guided tours will be available from Reception between these times. Annual Collection for our Sick & Retired Clergy - 22nd/23rd June
The Sick & Retired Clergy Fund is part of the Diocesan Charity which helps and supports our retired and sick clergy. As a Charity we rely on the generosity of the Parishes and individual donations to keep the Fund in a healthy state. Another valuable means is by including a bequest in your Will; a Form of Bequest can be found on page 36 of the Brentwood Diocesan Directory. Your generosity through the annual collection, donations and bequests is greatly appreciated.
