Sir David Amess RIP - Memorial Mass
We propose having a memorial Mass for the eternal repose of the soul of Sir David on Friday, 12 November, 7pm. This will be a month to the day of his tragic death. We hope that members of the local Community and others who would like to express their prayerful grief, will be able to attend.
Journey in Faith (RCIA)
The Journey in Faith sessions continue on Mondays. These evenings are for those wishing to discover more about the Catholic Faith with a view to Reception into the Church. If you know anyone who is interested in learning more about our Faith and wishing to become Catholic, please direct them to Fr Kevin or these evenings. They will be in the Parish Centre and begin at 8pm.
The Thresholds of Hope Questions
THE THRESHOLDS OF HOPE QUESTIONS are a series of talks for adults who want to grow in understanding and confidence when questioned or speaking about their Catholic Faith.
The next Thresholds of Hope Questions take place by Zoom on Sundays 31st October and 7th November 4.00 – 5.00 p.m.: What does it mean to talk about morality? These talks will be given by Fr Martin Boland, Dean of Brentwood Cathedral. To join this meeting go to Events at www.thresholdsofhope.co.uk
OLL Ladies Group
The next Meeting will be on Thursday 4th November in the Parish Centre starting at 10.15am. For our entertainment we welcome our guest speaker Paul Clarke who will give a talk on Thespian Tales ….all about his experiences in Theatre. This promises to be a great morning and a rare opportunity to have a peek behind the curtains!!
All women in the Parish are welcome to come and meet friends, old and new, over refreshments. Subs are only £1 per Meeting, plus a Raffle, and there is no extra charge for Refreshments.
NB Due to the need to have air circulating doors will be kept open so come prepared!!

Dear friends in Christ
We could say that the theme of the Readings at Mass this weekend is God is passing by. Jesus fulfils the prophecies and desires of the Old Testament. He alone brings healing and contentment. The blind man whom He cures in the Gospel is a symbol to us, and our times, of the spiritual blindness that prevents us seeing the salvation that is Christ; but it also shows us—by the way he behaves—that it is possible to overcome all obstacles in order to reach this salvation, to reach Jesus Christ. Bartimaeus partakes of this salvation which will have its fullness in the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ. Jesus was attracted to his total blindness and great poverty. The Lord more than compensated him for his hardships. After his cure, the life of Bartimaeus was utterly changed. He followed along the road, as Bartimaeus had become a disciple of the Master. Our suffering, or blindness, can always serve as the means for an encounter with Christ. We can follow Him with more humility, with greater purity. We can draw closer to Him. Jesus always tells us, as He told him: Have courage, get up! With this simple trust we make our way along the paths of this earth, ever trustful that the promises Jesus makes will be a reality.

Missio - World Mission Sunday
This Sunday 24th October 2021 is World Mission Sunday, when the Holy Father Pope Francis invites all Catholics to contribute to a special collection for Missio his charity for World Missions and to pray for Missionaries all over the World.
If you are able to donate please either use the envelope in the Planned Giving pack or there are envelopes at the back of the Church. Please put them in the collections this week or next or give them in to the Parish Office.
