Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear friends in Christ

The Prophet Amos in the first reading of the Mass this weekend, thunders against the exploitation of the poor by ruthless profiteers; as also in the Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the unjust steward who is forced to give an account to his master. The conclusion of the parable is the inescapable fact: No servant can serve two masters:...You cannot serve God and money. In order to be good stewards of the talents God has given us, we must know how to prudently direct our actions towards the promotion of what is good for all humanity, what is best for the common  good.

Please pray this week for the clergy of our Diocese who will be gathering for a two day conference with our Bishop in order to pray, reflect, discuss and discern together, the needs of our Diocese as we look with hope to our future.

This Monday evening we shall resume the Journey in Faith—RCIA—for those interested in the Catholic Church and wishing to enter into full communion with us. If you have a friend or family member who is enquiring, do send them along to the Newman Room at 8pm; and pray for vocations to the Catholic Church!

Our thanks goes to all those who helped in the celebrations marking the centenary of the opening of our church: the Mass on 8th and the musical celebration on the feast of the Holy Cross last Sunday. These milestones are important as we make our pilgrim journey toward our homeland of Heaven; the buildings we use here on earth are but a faint reflection of our true homeland above with God.

God bless you all!
