The Most Holy Trinity
Dear friends in Christ
The summation of the entire Christian Faith is the Blessed Trinity. God the Father loves his Son and the love between them generates the Holy Spirit. In Baptism we are brought into that life and the seed planted in Baptism, and nourished in the other Sacraments, is our pledge and hope of eternal life one day. The Christian hopes that after this earthly pilgrimage we will be sharing the family life of God for all eternity. Today we give thanks for our Christian faith and for the Sacraments, especially Baptism and Confirmation, that have brought us into an intimate communion with God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Last Sunday we celebrated Pentecost which was marked by the confirmation of a good number of our young people. Once again, it has been a joy and privilege to have prepared them and confirm them into this final stage of their initiation into the church, whereby they become adult Catholics and soldiers of Jesus Christ! I commend them and their families for the seriousness and joy with which they approached this outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their lives. May they be faithful to what has been given them, and what they have promised.
On Monday Our Holy Father, Pope Leo, published his first Encyclical Letter—Magnifica Humanitas—on the subject of Artificial Intelligence. Further on in this Newsletter I give a brief summary which I hope you will find helpful and encourage you to read the complete text which you can find at the link above.
Next Sunday is the great and beautiful feast of the Body and Blood of Christ—Corpus Christi. For one day in the year we make a public demonstration of our Catholic faith. As always, I make a request that you would attend the Procession in the afternoon by which we give public testimony of our faith in Jesus, present in his Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Our First Communion children lead this Procession accompanied by the brass band and all of us who walk with Jesus as a symbol of our pilgrimage to our eternal homeland. The Blessed Eucharist is the pledge and foretaste of eternal life. May we never take this for granted, and may we never hesitate to spread this belief in what is our most precious and adorable treasure.
God bless you!
