Reception into the Church
During the 11.30am Mass this Sunday, those wishing to be received into the Church will be presented with copies of the Apostles’ Creed. Please keep them
in your thoughts and prayers.
Lenten Lunches
Please continue to support the Lenten Lunches held on the Fridays of Lent from 12.30pm in the Parish Centre, the last lunch being the 18th March. A contribution of £4.50 will include homemade soup, rolls, cheese, fruit, tea or coffee. This year all proceeds will be sent to Fr Dominic Howarth’s Calais Refugees’ Project.

Scripture Group
Fr Con Joyce’s Scripture Group will meet in the Parish Centre 8pm-9pm on Thursday, 10th March. These meetings are held to give us a better understanding of the Bible, to encourage us to read it and so help us to come closer to Jesus in our daily lives as Christians. All welcome.
ABC - About Being Catholic
The series of talks designed to give an insight into the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church continues this Monday, 29th February at 8pm: The Ten Commandments. A very sincere thank you to all parishioners at Our Lady of Lourdes Church for the recent donations of tinned and dried goods, as well as night-pack items, and for your continued support, and also the cheque for £50 recently received from a parishioner. Our Lady of Ransom School
Our Lady of Ransom School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly-motivated Class Teacher to start in September 2016. The school provides a happy, calm atmosphere with delightful children as well as supportive colleagues, governors and parents. Second Sunday of Lent
Dear friends in Christ
Each year on this particular Sunday in Lent we are read the Gospel account of Jesus’ Transfiguration on Mount Tabor; why? To reassure us, as the Fathers of the Church tell us, that the scandal of the Cross leads to the glory of the Resurrection, in the life of Jesus and in our own lives too. The Cross comes in many forms in the course of life: sickness, broken relationships, misunderstandings…Lent is the moment when we can stand-back and look at our lives under the magnification of God’s grace. In this Year of Mercy, Christ, through His Church, wishes us to rediscover the joy of living united to the Cross. We all have our individual pain and cross; Lent encourages us to bear it with joyful patience.
Last week many of you came to Brentwood Cathedral for the Installation of the New Canons; we all thank you for your prayerful support and ask that you continue to pray for the needs of the Diocese at this time as, together we discern how we can best make provision for our future needs. Dear friends in Christ
