In July, an SVP officer gave evidence to the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry in Hunger & Food Poverty. They were investigating why increasing numbers of people in need are seeking support from food banks. Among SVP Conferences there has been an increase in the numbers running or supporting food banks from eight Conferences in 2010/11 to 69 in 2012/13. Locally we support the parish effort by providing fresh produce for the homeless people in Southend.

Lord, help us to use our resources wisely and to encourage others to do the same so that all may share the world’s resources.
