APF Boxholders

If you have not had your box opened in the last six months would you please give it in to the office or to me personally in the next few weeks.  I have received the Summer Missio, if you have not already received one from me please take one from the back of the church in the usual place.  Don't forget to collect your emptied boxes from the back of the church.  Thank you.  Joan Caunce, 01268 757505.

Sea of Voices

We have been going for one year now and have sung in various locations.  We could still do with more voices, male and female.  We meet upstairs in the Parish Centre 7.45pm to 9.15pm on Wednesday evenings.  Do come along and see what you think with a view to joining.  We also need an Assistant Musical Director.  If interested, or know of someone, please contact Darrell on 07825686249.

We have also provided quantities of personal hygiene items as well as our weekly food delivery.  Our next fund raiser is our Summer Draw and tickets will be on sale after the masses this weekend. Meal at East - 29th June, 2017

The Kwasnica fundraising meal at East (Alexandra Rd, Southend) is back!  Pleasejoin us for delicious 'all you can eat' Chinese food. Tickets cost £13 (excluding drinks) and there will be a raffle.  We are raising money to go to Lourdes with the BCYS (Brentwood Catholic Youth Service).  In addition to attending planned activities with the other young pilgrims, we will be assisting the sick, elderly and disabled pilgrims by pushing wheelchairs and offering companionship.  Although physically and emotionally challenging it is a very rewarding experience.  In order to go, we need to raise the money to pay for our travel and accommodation.  For information about tickets & raffle donations, please contact Amy on 07847517148.  Thank you. Catholicism: The Pivotal Players

Bishop Robert Barron's ground-breaking Pivotal Players series continues this week on June 26, 2017 at 8pm in the Parish Centre, with St. Catherine of Siena and Michelangelo.  St. Catherine of Siena witnesses to a higher world beyond the material. Though the fourteenth century mystic never studied theology, and never learned how to read or write, her life constitutes a powerful example for our time. Michelangelo, the master of sculpture and painting is not a saint but serves as the privileged representative of the creative potential engendered by the Catholic Faith. The Church professes that beauty is a route of access to God, and through humanity’s creative artistry we glimpse the power and glory of the Lord!

Dear Friends in Christ

Dear Friends in Christ

This weekend we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi - the Body and Blood of Christ - which is the central belief of our Catholic Faith. For century after century the Church has sought ways in which to celebrate the abiding presence of Christ with us in the Eucharist, and from the twelfth century this has taken the forms of all those public acts of adoration that we know today. Throughout the Church this weekend we are given the opportunity to praise and adore our Lord who has wished to give Himself to us in this unique and remarkable way. By virtue of the Mass, Christ remains on earth; in the Blessed Eucharist Jesus is present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity and remains at the centre of our Parishes in the Tabernacle even after the conclusion of Holy Mass.  Today the doors of our Tabernacles are opened wide so that Jesus can be seen in all His beauty. We adore Him in the Mass, in exposition, and in the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament. On this one Day in the year we carry our Lord in procession through our streets so that, just as He did when He walked on earth, he will make holy all those places where He passes. Do make a special effort to participate in our Eucharistic procession this Sunday afternoon together with all our First Communicants and their families. Through this Feast, let us ask the Good Jesus to have mercy on us and upon our homes and families.
